The in-person meetings of Chapter 392 have been significantly impacted by Covid-19. The pandemic has resulted in shelter at home orders, mask mandates and social distancing requirement that we've never had to deal with before. As a result, many organizations now hold meetings virtually instead of in person. Chapter 392 is now holding meetings virtually using the Zoom app.

Zoom is a cloud-based video communications application that allows users to set up virtual video and audio conferencing, webinars, live chats, screen-sharing, and other collaborative capabilities.

To use Zoom you will need a laptop computer, desktop computer, smartphone, or tablet with:

  • A camera
  • A microphone
  • A speaker
  • The ability to connect to the Internet

No. You don't need an account to attend a Zoom meeting, and the platform is compatible with Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android, meaning nearly anyone can access it. Chapter 392 has a Zoom account that lets us hold our meetings virtually. We schedule the meeting using our Zoom account and send out e-mails notifying others about the meeting and inviting them to participate.

Technically, you can join a meeting using only a browser. BUT...

Downloading the app makes it much easier to participate in Zoom meetings and is highly recommended.

A Zoom account is not required if you are joining Zoom Meetings as a participant. Zoom provides several ways to join a meeting, even if you haven’t downloaded Zoom’s software. Here’s every way a user can enter a Zoom meeting.

  1. Use the Zoom Application. If you already have Zoom installed on your device, you can join a meeting directly from the app using the meeting ID or personal link sent to you by the host.
  2. Use the Email Link. When a host sends you an invitation, you’ll receive that invitation via email. The first link in the message is the “Join Zoom Meeting” link. Click that link.
  3. Call the Meeting. If you’d rather just use your phone to call the meeting, that’s an option, too. In the email invitation you received, you’ll see the teleconferencing number. When prompted, enter the meeting ID number (also available in the email invitation) using your dial pad.
